Vidya takes a tutor

Vidya Balan is one of those method actors who love to get into the skin of their roles. She has portrayed different roles in her previous films and now she is all set to play vamp from Uttar Pradesh in Vishal Bhardwaj’s forthcoming film Ishqiya. Vidya who loves to make her character believable is learning the typical UP dialect.

Apparently the decision to learn the correct UP dialect was mutual. Since Vidya who is South Indian and has good command over Hindi, but when it came to the authentic UP language Vidya needed a tutor. A unit hand informs that Vidya has been given a tutor who is teaching her the local UP dialect. The film has a backdrop of Gorakhpur where people talk in the local UP language.

After having scored with her first two films, Parineeta and Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Vidya Balan has been happy playing along in films such as Guru, Salaam-E-Ishq, Eklavya and Halla Bol. Vidya now hopes to score again with Heyy Babyy.

In the film, Vidya is paired opposite Akshay Kumar, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan who play amative bachelors living it up in Sydney.

She is the unwedded mother of the ‘Babyy’ and one of three is the father. To teach them a lesson Vidya secretly dumps the baby on them with a note that one of them is the father, forcing them to not just look after the baby but find her mother to determine who the father is.

Vidya Balan seems absolutely smitten by Hollywood hunk Goerge Clooney. “He is very charming and unfortunately, very inaccessible,” says Vidya. Stars like Brad Pitt, Enrique and Tom Cruise keep coming and going… but George Clooney will always be there,” she says with a huge smile on her face. This discussion on men began when Vidya was asked the reason behind her always being linked with her co-stars. “I am single and therefore an easy target. But if people have to link me, I would rather they do it with Clooney,” she laughs.

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is doing every bit that she can to deliver her best in Vishal Bharadwaj’s “Ishqiya”. For this, she even joined a 10-day workshop with her co-star Naseeruddin Shah.
“The character that Vidya is playing in ‘Ishqiya’ is very complex and difficult to enact. Vidya thought that the way to emote the character on screen was best learnt from Naseeruddin Shah because the veteran actor is a master at it,” a source close to the actress said.

Vishal Bhardwaj prefers his actors actually learn skills and not fake it on screen. So, Vidya Balan is now taking driving lessons for his home production, Ishqiya. The actress who appeared to be driving a car in her last release, Kismat Konnection, didn’t actually have to drive the car. They cheated on the scenes, so it appeared that she was.

Says a source close to Vidya, “Vidya has been diligently doing everything from learning the Urdu dialect to attending workshops with Naseeruddin Shah for Vishal’s film which is being directed by his chief assistant director Abhishek Choubey. Now Vidya is learning driving when earlier she was a complete phobe.”

The talented director-producer sees to it that the actor actually learns the skills and not fake it on his films. If Vishal made Saif Ali Khan learn the UP dialect in Omkara , the director has made Vidya Balan take driving lessons for Ishqiya.

We hear Vidya was a complete phobic when it came to driving. She has acute road phobia and was petrified at the thought of driving.
