CNN-IBN spotted a slim-and-trim Vidya Balan launching a skin care product in Mumbai on Saturday afternoon and the actress seems to have gone in for a wardrobe overhaul.

Sporting a red and black salwar kameez, the lady seemed far from the icon of fashion disasters that she once was.

Vidya will next be seen with the Bachchans in Pa and the actress seemed particularly impressed with the Big B’s look in the film.

“I just couldn’t believe my eyes. He just transforms with every character when he comes on screen. And yet he is Amitabh Bachchan. So the combination was amazing to watch as I shot with him,” she says.

After her disastrous look in Heyy Babyy – courtesy Manish Malhotra – Vidya has opted for Sabyasachi to style for her in her latest.

“Sabya has styled my look in Pa. It’s a very organic look. But organic or ayurvedic, I am all for it,” says she.

Let’s hope it’s a change for the better for Vidya, because the fashion police will be waiting for this one.

Rajeev Khandelwal delays Amitabh-Vidya starrer ‘Chenab Gandhi’?

Chenab Gandhi, a film produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was to go on floors in April 2009. While the first schedule got pushed to September 2009 talks have it that the film may start rolling only in February 2010.

Actress Vidya Balan and actor Amitabh Bachchan who are currently shooting for Balki’s Paa will be seen together once again in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Chenab Gandhi, to be directed by Vibhu Puri. The film based on the life of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (played by Amitabh Bachchan) was to go on floors in April 2009. But Bhansali’s search for his ‘other hero’ caused a change in schedule.

Initially, Harman Baweja was to play an important part in the movie. But later there were reports that Bhansali settled for John Abraham and had to re-work schedules and dates. But it still wasn’t that easy. While media had it that actress Bipasha Basu wasn’t too keen to have John work with Vidya (the two were linked while shooting Salaam-e-Ishq), John rubbished the rumours and claimed that he wasn’t offered Chenab Gandhi in the first place. He admitted that he was in talks with Sanjay Leela Bhansali but that was for another project and not Chenab Gandhi.

Finally, Rajeev Khandelwal was roped in to play the ‘other hero’. But fortunately or unfortunately, the Sach Ka Saamna phenomenon happened to Rajeev Khandelwal, because of whom, sources say, the film will be further pushed and may go on floors only in February 2010 now. However, a birdie from the production house claims, “The last show of Sach Ka Saamna maybe September 26, but nothing is confirmed yet.” So Bhansali finds himself in date trouble all over again, but this is one sach that he’ll just have to face! Watch this space for more news…

Vidya Balan and Aamir Khan

August 3rd, 2009

By Jilawatan

vidya-balan3Rumours are rippling through the hills of Mumbai suggesting that Yash Chopra himself has approached Vidya Balan to star opposite Aamir Khan in a love story that will hit the floors early next year aimed for a heavily-promoted Diwali release. It’s a sign of Vidya’s growing stature in the industry that she seems able to be walk effortlessly from a Bachchan project – Pa – into such a prominent project.

Meanwhile, Vidya has dropped her stylist Manish Malhotra for Sabayachi, the one the cast used for Pa. “Sabya has styled my look in Pa,” she explains, “It’s a very organic look. But organic or ayurvedic, I am all for it.”

With the shooting for Pa behind her, Vidya is now working with Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi on Ishqiya- a love triangle with a difference as Arshad plays Naseer’s nephew in the movie. For the first time on screen, Naseer has dyed his hair to fit the part. “That’s right,” he confirms, “I’m supposed to be this 40-year-old rake doing naughty things, like wooing the neighbourhood widow Vidya Balan. Giving me competition in the endeavour is my screen nephew Arshad Warsi. So my character has to really pull up his socks to vie for the lady’s attentions.”

Vidya Balan’s out of the closet!

Vidya Balan’s Parineeta look is passé though according to many the actress looked her best in a sari, bindi and the whole coy look that she sported in the film. With Heyy Babyy, Vidya tried to reinvent herself in a modern avatar as she donned unflattering western outfits that looked anything but good on her. With Kismat Konnection she yet again tried the western look but failed to impress once again. Looks like bored with her umpteen ‘western’ attempts Vidya has decided to go the extremes…err we mean extreme desi in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Ishqiya.

Vidya’s desi-giri includes swearing in pure Hindi, conning the heroes of Hindi cinema Arshad and Naseeruddin Shah by batting those pretty eye lashes like a true gau ki gori and then even not minding rendering a hot smooch onscreen!

The promo of Vishal Bharadwaj’s forthcoming film Ishqiya is out and one can’t help but notice the 180 degree turn in Vidya’s onscreen image. The otherwise classy actress has displayed a rare side of her onscreen persona, a rawness in her performance that one barely gets to see.

Vidya’s ‘bold’ look comes as a welcome change to her fans who were a bit frustrated with her holier than thou roles. Vidya is all set to enter the dark zone by playing a negative role in Ishkiyan and it seems interesting.

Naseer dyes hair, gets naughty for Vidya

So far, he has refused to colour his hair even for a film. But now Naseeruddin Shah has not only dyed his hair, he has also shaved his beard and lost a lot of weight to look like an eligible 40-year-old for Vidya Balan in Ishqiya. The veteran actor says he is having the time of his life shooting the movie.

“That’s right. I’m supposed to be this 40-year-old rake doing naughty things, like wooing the neighbourhood widow, played by Vidya. Giving me competition is my screen bhanja Arshad Warsi. So my character has to really pull up his socks to vie for the lady’s attention,” laughs Naseer. “I’ve never believed in such vanity in real life. But my character definitely does have to be an eligible 40-year-old,” he adds.

Abating the speculations doing the rounds regarding his love-life, usually quiet Shahid Kapur chose to speak about his dream girl. No, it is not Vidya Balan or Priyanka Chopra or the most recent, Anushka Sharma who fits Shahid’s image of his ideal girl but he is still on the lookout for the special person.

Elaborating on how his dream girl should be, the actor said to a news daily, “She should be able to connect with me emotionally on a day-to-day basis. The girl should be different, but not to the extent that things just doesn`t work out. Last but not the least, I know I would accept her the way she is.“

Talking about his break-up with former girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, Shahid said, “I had a public break-up, but now I am very private about my personal life. It became too public and difficult to handle. When there is something substantial, people will come to know about it,“ he concludes.

Well, Shahid should know that he too needs to change for his dream girl, otherwise who would like to fall in love with a guy, who keeps on changing his girlfriend.

GOSS: Vidya facing identity crisis?

July 22nd, 2009

By Jilawatan

vidya-balan-stills-4Just got to know that some Londoners failed to recognise Vidya Balan recently.

It seems the poor girl just got off a roller coaster and was apparently looked ‘flustered and unkempt’.

Now I can understand if a bunch of foreigners don’t know who Vidya is. But I also heard that the actress was asked who she was very much in India!

Apparently the star was attending a show for which she was to collect tickets at the auditorium.

As it seemed, the person who was supposed to handover the tickets sauntered into the cafeteria and asked who Vidya Balan was. She obviously didn’t know who the star was because when the actress walked up to her, she asked, “Are you Vidya Balan?”

Vidya only nodded and moved on! Must say Vidya, you really are humble, girl!
