Now, that’s also resolved as she has started wearing Indian clothes, which suit her. But has she changed her dressing style because of the constant bullying by the media?
“Shut up! I don’t care about what someone has to say about how I am looking,” laughs the actress. “See, I always dress according to the film I’m in. When I am promoting a film, I have to be in character. And I have been this way since childhood,” says Vidya.
Asked what she was like as a kid, the actress blushed and said, “I was always a healthy child. And I had very curly hair, and so my building’s kids always used to come up with different nicknames for me,” says Vidya.
She recollected the days when her mother was trying hard to get her to lose a few kilos. “My mom was very worried, and she always used to tell me to go out and play, do skipping or cycling but, like a fat kid, I always preferred to sit at home, watching TV. And, specially, Amitabh Bachchan’s films and songs. I used to dance on Saara zamana, haseeno ka deewana, says Vidya.
Big B fan Vidya had her dream come true when she got the chance to act with him in Paa. “Believe me, I was such a great fan of Mr Bachchan that I still remember those days when he was injured during the Coolie shoot and I cried.”
