Bollywood flicks are popular not only inside the boundaries of the Indian sub continent but also across the world. Therefore, it is no wonder that the Hindi movie fans will be inquisitive about the actors and actresses of the tinsel town. There are times when the inquisitiveness reaches the limit of madness. There are certain elements in the industry that try to leverage profit from the popularity of the cine stars. The Bollywood actresses are the common victims of this vicious cycle. It is a common practise to super impose the faces of the heroines on the body of a naked model.

Pooja Bhatt was the first well known victim of this disgraceful practise. Naked pictures of the heroine appeared on the internet, and were the talk of the town. The agitated heroine and her father, famous director Mahesh Bhatt fought back against this shameful incident. However, the ugly trend hasn’t stopped and has picked momentum nowadays. In the recent past morphed pictures of Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha have appeared on the net. Sonakshi was fast to react and announced in her social networking site that the pictures were fake. This some what reduced the popularity of the circulating photos.

The latest victim of Bollywood is none other than the voluptuous south Indian beauty, Vidya Balan. Bikini clad sensuous photo shoots of the heroine has recently appeared on the “world wide web” and has become the hot property. The popularity garnered by the photos in a short span of time is unparallel. The photos show the diva appearing on the cover of the famous international men’s magazine, Maxim; wearing almost transparent black bikini. The fans of Vidya Balan were surprised as the heroine never appeared on such bold photo shoots.

An angry Vidya told that she has never participated in such a photo shoot and the pictures were morphed. The publishers of the magazine Maxim has also stated that they are in no way related with the photos. The photos are claimed to be on the cover of the 2011 annual issue of the magazine, which is not yet published.

The actress is shooting overseas at the moment and is devastated about the present development. She plans to take legal actions against the websites or culprits who are behind this act. It is rumoured that Sonakshi Sinha and Katrina Kaif are also planning to take legal actions against the culprits who morphed their pictures. Lets hope that the culprits are brought to the book and this malpractice gets terminated for ever

Vidya Balan and Katrina Kaif tagged lucky charms

Bollywood is considered to be a superstitious lot, not willing to take risks especially when it comes to trying to ensure the success of their films at the box-office.

Apart from auspicious mahurat dates and naming of films, even casting of actors considered lucky mascots for the makers is increasingly the norm. So, what happens when both the leading actor, as well as, the film-maker have their own ‘lucky’ stars. Well, they simply cast both! And according to the buzz that’s what happened in Anees Bazmee’s Thank You. The film that stars Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Bobby Deol also has a surprise cameo by actor Vidya Balan, apart from an item number by Mallika Sherawat.

Apparently, while Bazmee considered it was lucky to include Mallika as she she had made a cameo in his earlier hit Welcome, Vidya is considered to be lucky for Akki and reportedly that is what helped the director zero in on her for a vital role opposite Akshay. A source reveals, “Akshay and Vidya have had two superhits together Bhool Bhulaiya and Heyy Babyy and hopefully the combination will click again. So the makers agreed immediately and cast Vidya.” In fact according to another insider, the length of her character was considerably increased and even a song was thrown in after Vidya agreed to come on board. The source adds, “Vidya’s also of course a talented actor, so it was like a win-win situation for the film. So things fell into place, even though Anees already had his own lucky actor Mallika in the film.”

But Sherawat and Balan are not the only ones. Rani Mukerji and Kajol too have been considered film-maker Karan Johar’s lucky charms, although he has gone on record claiming Shah Rukh Khan to be the luckiest mascot. In fact, according to Bolly-lore, if Kajol tripped while shooting for a film, then the film was bound to be a super hit.

Actor Salman Khan is the lucky boy for the Barjatyas, while Katrina Kaif’s been proven lucky for Akshay. Anushka Sharma’s now being considered lucky for her film-makers too. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali swears by his heroine Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, while actor Sridevi was apparently the lucky mascot for the Chopras. Actor Madhuri Dixit was considered to be lucky for Indra Kumar, but then so was a particular tree in Ooty that he featured in all his films, while Urmila Matondkar was both the muse and the mascot for Ram Gopal Varma.

Taking cognizance of a complaint petition filed against cine stars Katrina Kaif, Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha for allegedly spreading vulgarity in the society, sub-judge I B P Singh, who was in-charge of the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Muzaffarpur, on Monday said that the regular CJM, Muzaffarpur, would look into the matter.

A Muzaffarpur-based lawyer, Sudhir Kumar Ojha, who filed the complaint petition in CJM’s court on Monday, told TOI that he had filed the petition against three cine stars – Katrina Kaif, Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha – accusing them of spreading vulgarity in the society. He said that he filed complaint petition against Katrina for the song ‘Sheela ki Jawani’ picturised on her.

Regarding Vidya Balan and Sonakshi, Ojha said that they had posed for vulgar photographs in a fashion magazine published in January, 2011. He pleaded in the court that such songs and photographs spread vulgarity in the society, which was against country’s culture and tradition.

Ojha said that he further pleaded that it would have an adverse impact on young boys and girls. He said that taking cognizance of the complaint, the sub-judge 1 said the regular CJM would look into the complaint and fixed the next date of hearing on February 4, 2011.

Vidya Balan went on a gifting spree recently on the sets of her film Kahaani. There was no special occasion as such, but Vidya decided to gift people on the sets.

Now Vidya has no starry airs, you’ll find her sitting with the production crew and chatting with them. She even respects the spots and light guys. They inturn, who share a great respect for the actress, were very happy with her surprise. From artifacts to chocolates, Vidya hand picked the gifts for each and everyone of them. And it was definitely the thought that counted. Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif went generous too as she decided to splurge gifts on the production crew of her forthcoming film. Shaken and Stirred

It was reported recently that Vidya Balan had a nervous breakdown of sorts on the streets of Kolkata where she’s shooting Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahani’ — touted as a desi ‘Kill Bill ‘ (a pregnant woman seeking revenge). Apparently Vidya who is grueling hard for this film as well as dubbing for ‘No One Killed Jessica’ snapped and had a crying jag in front of the crew.

A few weeks ago there was another incident involving Katrina Kaif. Cornered by the media to clarify Salman Khan’s alleged remark that they’ve broken up, she could not handle the heat and broke down in a press conference.

You’ve got to feel for the ladies. Being a Bollywood heroine is a tough job. The stakes are high and the shelf life very short. There are only that many films they can do with top heroes who anyways are on the look out for younger and newer heroines. Added to that, they have to constantly manage an image and also decide how they want to play their personal life.

Vidya has a nervous breakdown

November 7th, 2010

By Jilawatan

Shooting all day in sweaty crowded outdoor location for one film and dubbing for another film has taken its toll on Vidya Balan’s health.

After Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif, Vidya Balan has suffered a health setback caused by acute overwork. The actress suffered from nervous exhaustion in Kolkata, where she is working on Sujoy Ghosh’s film.

The incident happened earlier this week when the actress was burning the midnight oil for over a month shooting during day-time for one film and dubbing another. Suddenly in the middle of shooting, Vidya burst into tears and loud wracking sobs. A stunned silence followed. The unit was naturally shocked since there was outwardly no provocation.

Says Vidya, “Yes, it happened a few days ago and it scared the hell out of me and everyone in the unit. I am not prone to tantrums or outbursts.

I don’t know what happened to me. I just broke down. It was work pressure. In the past three months I didn’t have a day’s respite. It was crazy. I was shooting all day for Sujoy’s film in Kolkata.

Then director Rajkumar Gupta’s people had flown to Kolkata for my dubbing of No One Killed Jessica because that is releasing on January 7. So I was dubbing in the night. It was tough schedule. I guess I overdid it.

My breakdown was as much a shock to me as it was for them. I don’t know what happened. I’ve been shooting in Kolkata for a month and I’ve to shoot for another month.

Kolkata is my favourite city. I am seeing it like never before. This is my third full-fledged film in Kolkata. Much as I love the city I do miss my home and family in Mumbai.” Take it easy, gal.

Vidya Balan asks more money

July 20th, 2010

By Jilawatan

Vidya Balan is out of Inder Kumar’s next Dhamaal 2 . The buzz in the trade is that Vidya was neither too happy with the money she was being offered for her role, nor with the role per se. A source says, “Vidya asked for a price which she deserves after she catapulted to the top bracket of actors, post the success of Paa and Ishqiya . She asked for Rs 1.5 crore (approximately). Like any other actor would in her place, she too has hiked up her market price.”

According to the film industry standards, the market prices of Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are believed to be Rs 1.5 crore (approximately) and that of Priyanka Chopra’s around Rs 1 crore. Hence, given Vidya’s career graph in Bollywood, it is surprising that neither Inder Kumar nor Ashok Thakeria, the producer of the film, objected to Vidya’s exit from the film. “Inder and Ashok failed to understand the need of the hour. Despite discussions, the makers of the film and the actress could not meet at a common consensus,” adds the source.

Meanwhile, Vidya’s friend insists the actress quit the project for qualitative reasons. She stands up for Vidya and says, “Yes, the news is true. Vidya is definitely not doing Dhamaal 2. But that’s simply because she didn’t find any meat in the portrayal of her character. She would have loved to attempt comedy with this film but it’s okay. There is always a next time.”

Interestingly, Vidya has locked horns with her Dhamaal 2 co-star Kangna Ranaut in another film Bullet Train, which is to be directed by Priyadarshan. Bullet Train, which stars Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn, is largely going to be shot on a train from London to Glasgow.

Producer of Bullet Train, Ratan Jain has clearly worked out the economics of his film much in advance. He has no qualms in giving the lead role to the actress who is willing to settle for the price he has to offer. He confirms, “Between Vidya and Kangna, whoever agrees to do the role at a lesser price, will get to play the part in my film. The availability of dates will of course be another important factor.”

Despite repeated calls and text messages, Vidya remained unavailable for comment.

Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan: What is common to them?

Both hottie Katrina Kaif and the demure Vidya Balan are two gorgeous women of Bollywood planet riding high on the success their respective careers. While each is ascending the ladders of fame steadfast and hastily, both have hit the fancy of the renowned painter M. F. Hussain.
Yes! After immortalising Madhuri Dixit in his canvas, he is desirous of flicking his brush once more; this time to use his palette of colours to paint the charming temptress Katrina Kaif. Katrina has, hitherto, conquered so many male hearts that it’s no surprise that even the heart of the 90-plus man has been struck by the cupid’s arrow.
Her tremendous acting display in her latest box-office jolter Rajneeti has earned her a place in the good books of the iconic painter. It’s only ironic that her ex flame Salman Khan never got the chance to put her on a canvas (given the fact that Katty’s ex Partner has a profound penchant and passion for painting).
Hussain had also disclosed his longing to give colours to the portrait of Vidya Balan, however, his brush is still awaiting the beauties. Other beauties who have been canvassed by the legendary painter include:
1. Madhuri Dixit (the Dhak Dhak mania got over Hussain too)
2. Tabu (her poise and purity arrested his attention)
3. Urmila Matondkar (the sexy petite gal)
4. And Amrita Rao (the unearthly Indian beauty who created ripples with Vivaah)

I am not the ambassador of Kochi team: Vidya Balan

April 15th, 2010

By Jilawatan

Actress Vidya Balan has rubbished reports claiming that she will be the brand ambassador for the embattled Kochi IPL team.

The actress who belongs to a Palakkad Brahmin family was the fan favourite to be the ambassador for the team from Kerala, but Balan said that she has not even been approached with a proposal.

“I have no clue about it and no one has approached me yet,” the actress told reporters.

Balan who was in town to receive the ‘Tejaswini’ award for young women achievers, refused to comment further on the controversy surrounding the spat between IPL Chairman Lalit Modi and Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor.

The Kochi franchise of the super successful 20-20 cricket tournament, ran into controversy when Modi publicly disclosed the names of some of the owners of a consortium that recently bought the team for a whopping $333 million.

Out of this free equity, 19 per cent is said to have gone to Sunanda Pushkar, a Kashmiri beautician closely linked to Tharoor who is reportedly planning to marry her after divorcing his second wife, a Canadian.

So as of now, fans of the 31-year-old actress will not be seeing her cheering from the stands.

The IPL matches have become glamorous events thanks to the presence of the fans from Bollywood who come out to support their favourite teams.

While leading actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty are team owners, Katrina Kaif is the ambassador for the Royal Challengers team from Bangalore.
