He came along like a magician and transformed Bollywood’s two classic actresses’ wardrobe from boring to being bold and beautiful! The two said actresses are Rani Mukerjee and Vidya Balan and their magician is ace fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Initially trashed for their jaded fashion sense, Rani and Vidya now get featured as the most stylish Indian actresses across the media. We thus decided to ask Sabya who amongst the two is better when we bumped into him on day one of Lakme Fashion Week’10 in Mumbai. Sabya has also designed clothes for both Rani and Vidya in their forthcoming film together ‘No one killed Jessica’.

Vidya Balan is on a signing spree. Her career is on the upswing post Paa and Ishqiya. She has even started dressing better. She is currently working on Rajkumar Gupta’s No One Killed Jessica and is also considering Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children.

Sabyasachi is one of Vidya’s favourite designers, and he styled her look in Paa. She wears his creations at events and the duo is friends. So, it is no surprise that he wants her to be part of his directorial debut. He thinks she is the quintessential Indian beauty. Prateik Babber is the male lead in the film. Konkona Sen Sharma recently said that she finds Prateik sexy and she might also sign on the dotted line.

Rajkumar Gupta, who’s directing No One Killed Jessica, has decided to not let Vidya Balan meet Sabrina Lal, whose character she is portraying in the film. This is so that Vidya does the role in her own way.

According to sources, Gupta doesn’t want Vidya to meet Sabrina because he believes that she would then pick up the latter’s mannerisms and replicate Sabrina’s actions when filming. He wants her to do the role in a different manner.

Vidya Balan has faced so much criticism for her fashion sense in the past that she has turned extremely cautious and wary about what she wears. She is glad that her outfits in Paa and Ishqiya were appreciated. And the appreciation is courtesy the outfits by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Vidya is indeed looking forward to the offer coming her way, especially after just signing NO ONE KILLED JESSICA where she has an author backed role. Director Rajkumar Gupta, who earlier made the intense thriller, Aamir, has been planning a film on the Jessica Lal murder titled No One Killed Jessica. The crucial casting of Sabrina Lal was keeping the project from taking off. He has zeroed in on Vidya Balan for the powerful role. Vidya’s earlier stint as a strong, assertive woman in Parineeta and Halla Bol, (which incidentally had shades of Jessica’s life) and Paa has helped her land the critical role of Sabrina. Sabrina fought a relentless battle to get her sister’s killers nabbed after Jessica was gunned down in a crowded bar on April 29, 1999, in front of several eyewitnesses. Recently, the sensational case was in the news again when Jessica’s convicted killer, Manu Sharma, was out on parole, making merry in the nightspots of Delhi.

Jessica Lal refuses to die even after her brutal murder in full public glare. This time she is back in a film, which will see the talented Vidya Balan play her sister – Sabrina Lal. According to latest news, director Rajkumar Gupta, who earlier made the critically-acclaimed film, ‘Aamir’, has been planning a film on the Jessica Lal murder case titled ‘No One Killed Jessica’.

The director decided to cast Vidya after watching her powerful performance in ‘Paa’. Vidya has earlier played women centric roles in ‘Parineeta’ and ‘Halla Bol’.
