Vidya Balan drops heavy hints about a budding romance but still won’t let the love kitty out of the bag entirely. Filmfare valiantly plays nosey parker
What is the uppermost thought in your mind these days?
Sleep, food and times with loved ones (giggles).
Should we make that ‘loved one?’
I said what I had to. You decode it.
Okay…
And romantic music on a long drive (giggles some more).
Can we safely assume you are over Shah Rukh Khan?
No! I’ll never be over Shah Rukh. I know I’ve been going to town saying I want to have an affair with him but the truth is I don’t. You don’t want to picture him having an affair somehow. SRK has this dependable image where you imagine him to be in love with just one woman for the rest of his life. Pity it’s not me.
How’s Vidya Balan in a relationship?
You’ll have to ask him.
Who?
Whoever I was, am, will be seeing.
Would that be Siddharth Roy Kapur (CEO, UTV Motion Pictures) at the moment? You’ve been linked a little too strongly with him recently.
You know, the initials excite me. SRK. Hahahahaha. Every pun intended. Well, Siddharth is the producer of my last film No One Killed Jessica (NOKJ)… (trails off)
Okay let’s try another tack. Are you single or taken?
Let’s just say I’m single until I’m married.
So are you relieved that finally you have been linked with someone else other than Shahid Kapoor?
I guess, not just me, even Shahid must be relieved! Its some kind of move from SK to SRK. Don’t you think?
The two of you never admitted to being anything more than friends. Are you still in touch?
Hmmm… See we got along famously during Kismat Konnection. But it’s difficult to sustain friendships beyond the film. But we do wish each on birthdays and occasions. We also did an impromptu jig at a recent award function. Really, there is nothing more to say…
Is there any resentment about your last relationship?
No. There is no bitterness. I don’t blame anyone. You can’t fight it if two people are not meant to be together. But it’s nice to have been through that than to have never explored it at all. Until you decide that it’s time to move on, nothing anyone says can make you. Actually, the most important lesson I learnt is that you should never use someone as a crutch to get over someone else.
Okay last one. What advice would you give someone who is trying to woo you?
Let’s just say it’s working (Smiles).

VIDYA BALAN’S PORTRAYAL of Jessica Lall’s older sister, Sabrina, in No One Killed Jessica has been appreciated by one and all.
But it’s the producer of the film that Vidya is singing praises about. She has apparently found a very ‘close friend’ in Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures.
“They met during the film and hit it off instantly. During the making of the film, they realised that there were feelings which couldn’t be justified as ‘just friendship’. They started spending time with each other and now they are together,” says a source from UTV. But they are making every attempt to keep the relationship under wraps. “They wanted to be quiet about it as it would look like a publicity gimmick to promote the film. Now that the movie is out, they are a bit more open about each other. But not so much that they would want to announce it to the world yet,” concludes the source.
Explains Vidya’s ally, “She has burnt her fingers in the past. She actually thought that she had something special with Shahid Kapoor, only to realise that she was one of his rebound flings. And besides, Siddharth was married before – he is divorced now. So until there is something concrete, she wants to keep it discreet.”
If Vidya has fallen head over heels for the producer, the director of No One Killed Jessica is smitten by Rani Mukherji. Rajkumar Gupta has fallen for Rani so badly that he made a cameo in one of the scenes just to shout, ‘Marry me’ in the film. Apparently, he’s also thinking of casting Rani in his next film.

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan and former union minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor have been voted as the hottest celebrity vegetarians in an online poll by animal rights organisation PETA.
Vidya and Tharoor beat out actors R. Madhavan and Lara Dutta to claim the title. They
faced competition from Mallika Sherawat, Kareena Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Shahid Kapoor, and even international names like Natalie Portman and Bryan Adams.
“Vidya Balan and Shashi Tharoor embody many admirable qualities, but their commitment to a vegetarian diet that’s as kind to animals and the earth as it is to their own health makes them true royalty in our book,” Poorva Joshipura, chief of People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India, said in a statement.
“All our nominees are winners because there’s nothing more beautiful than a caring heart to go along with an attractive appearance,” she added.

Rani Mukherjee is back again with her next release No One Killed Jessica. She is pairing up with actress Vidya Balan as the lead characters in the film. The film is directed by Rajkumar Gupta, critically acclaimed for his last film Aamir starring Rajeev Khandelwal.
No One Killed Jessica is a film based on the Jessica Lal case. Jessica Lal was an aspiring model in New Delhi and was well known as a celebrity bartender. She was shot dead on April 29, 1999 at a party. The murder within no time became the talk of the town. Mani Sharma, the son of a politician was convicted on December 2006, accused of Jessica’s murder.
Rani in the film portrays the character of a reporter who was covering the murder mystery. Vidya Balan portrays Jessica’s sister, Sabrina. The film’s released dates are not announced, but the film’s promo will be released in next few weeks.
Rani Mukherjee was last seen staring opposite Shahid Kapoor in the film Dil Bole Haddipa. The film was based on gender stereotypes, however, it failed to make a mark at the Box Office. Taking into consideration that Rani will be seen on the silver screen after a long time, lots of expectations have definitely risen. Hope her hard work for the film pays-off. Wishing all the luck to both Rani and Vidya for their film No One Killed Jessica.

Oi oi.. what is this I’m hearing subah subah now? A khabru has called to inform me that Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan have reconnected again, over text messages. Yeh aur baat hai that he messages her more than she replies to him.
Kyun? Kyunki Viddy still hasn’t gotten over their jhagda patties after Kismet Konnection, when she got maha upset with him for shooting his mouth off and saying things he should not have, reveals my informer.
Never mind if they happened to start messaging by accident — reportedly Shahid sent a message to Vidya instead of Vishal Bharadwaj, the actor is trying to manao her ever since.
But according to my jasoos, Viddy B reverts to him only once in a while and is keeping safe distance instead of being too friendly. Chalo badhya hai. So what if it’s so very theek hai, zyada paka mat, I tell you.

Vidya Balan, a fine species of a perfect blend of Indianness and modernity, is contemplating marriage. At 30, her career is spiralling and she is in no haste to tie the knot immediately. But, she admits that she is in hunt for her perfect man.
She reveals, “I’ll marry someone who gives me some butterflies in my stomach. Someone like George Clooney. His age is now beginning to show, so maybe someone younger. He should be someone I can discuss anything under the sun with. Most importantly, he should be very self-assured.”
She also candidly admits that cupid has struck her heart on more than one occasion but it didn’t work out. One can risk an assumption that she’s hinting at Shahid Kapoor with whom she had a brief fling but then their relationship soured.

We last saw Vidya in Ishquiya ushering in a sexual progressiveness without much ado and also in Paa where she begets a child sans wedlock. Portraying a bold image of a woman onscreen certainly demands her opinion on premarital sex.

Her personal views on the same are fairly conventional. “I think kids start too early these days. It’s distressing. Premarital sex is okay between consenting adults who are responsible enough to use protection. Protection is not an option, it’s sensible and non negotiable. And I really, really wish people would start being sexually active at the right time. I am not saying with the right person because you can never be sure of that, but at least grow up first.”
And what she has to say on her on and off link-up with Shahid Kapoor. “I haven’t met Shahid in ages. And if I do meet him I guess we will exchange pleasantries. Recently when I went up to take my award at that function I was too overwhelmed to notice anyone or anything. It was my first best actress award. The people around me were a blur. It wasn’t about Shahid at all. And at the Awards night the only time I saw him was when he was dancing on stage. What am I supposed to do? Run up to the stage and say, ‘Hey Shahid, stop the moonwalk. I want to say Hi because everyone expects me to?’”

Filmfare awards winner Vidya Balan has been linked with almost all her co-stars, the most publicist being Shahid Kapoor. And if you think she is disturbed by those rumours, think again. The truth is that she enjoys reading her link up stories.

Vidya said that the stories of link ups do bothers her but sometimes appreciate well-written stories. She added that there was a time when she felt she was out of work if she wasn’t linked to her co-stars.
The Filmfare award winner however said that she hates reading Bollywood stories. She added that people end up believing gossip stories.

There’s something about Bollywood couples that they just can’t remain friends after breaking off. Till today Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor aren’t on talking terms, while Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan don’t even look at each other.

So one can understand the awkwardness that Shahid and Vidya Balan – the two were linked during the days they worked in Kismat Konnection – felt when they found themselves on the same flight from Delhi to Mumbai a few days back.
Needless to say, the two didn’t exchange pleasantries or even acknowledge the other’s presence. Reports say they simply looked through each other as if the other person did not exist at all.
Definitely no Konnection left between them.
