Vidya Balan is no more a Chembur resident. A couple of weeks ago, the actor moved into a plush 4-BHK in the western suburb of Khar with her parents. Vidya’s new house also has an office (for her meetings), the entrance for which is separate from her residence.

It emerges now that Vidya wasn’t intending to live in Chembur for long – she had been house hunting for a long time. In any case, like most buildings in the area, Vidya’s building in Chembur was in line for redevelopment, so she couldn’t have stayed there indefinitely.

She’d set her mind on a new pad somewhere between Bandra and Juhu because it would save her a lot of travel time to her shoots, which were very far from the central suburb of Chembur.

A few months ago, she finally zeroed in on a flat in Khar, after consulting with her parents, who in turn consulted Vidya’s sister Priya and her husband Kedar. However, Vidya was keeping things quiet till she actually shifted. “Yes, I am living in Khar now,” she confirmed.

Ever since Vidya’s family relocated from Kerala to Mumbai, they had been staying in Chembur. It’s where she grew up and schooled, so she naturally misses Chembur. “She still keeps going back to her old house. A lot of her things are still lying there,” said one of Vidya’s friends.
